  • Flight Lieutenant Frederick Getty “Jack” Higgs – 265705 – Media Stories – his BEM award was widely reported across Australia – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13– Citation “Sergeant Higgs was N.C.O. in charge of operations and the maintenance of R/T fighter ‘ control in the locality of enemy attacks upon  New Britain. In this capacity his duty was to remain at the post throughout the many enemy attacks on the aerodrome. Notwithstanding the exposed nature of the position he remained at the post throughout the attacks displaying great resolution and courage in the performance of duty. His consistent bravery under fire gained him the admiration of his commanding officer and fellow airmen.” (Pages 24732474 )AWM VIC1815 F Higgs
